Water:
Water is our most important and valuable natural resource, yet
it’s managed with arcane laws that don’t recognize 21st
century environmental values, industry, and growth.
- Water conservation should be our first
priority in securing this valuable resource.
- 19th century water laws, rules, and regulations need to be re-visioned
and re-legislated to meet the needs of 21st century
Colorado.
- Water quality is a bottom-line issue. All
state and federal rules related to water quality must be followed
by industry, agriculture, mining, and any other potentially polluting
entity. We cannot afford any more Summitvilles.
- The value of water extends far beyond agriculture. Water that
stays in the rivers and streams
creates recreational value, natural value, and energy value.
- Time worn and expensive solutions for water management should
be replaced by coordinated efforts among home owners,
cities, environmentalists, recreationists, industry, and
agriculture to reduce the costs of securing our water
supply.
