Health care:
Health care costs are one of the greatest burdens on Colorado citizens
and businesses. As costs rapidly go up, the number of insured goes
down.
- Access to health care and cost relief go hand in hand.
The Legislature must innovate here. All common sense ideas should
be on the table.
- Patients and doctors are the principal health care decision-makers,
not insurance companies.
- 600,000 Coloradans are not covered by health insurance, and
small businesses are especially hit with high insurance
costs. We must urgently figure out these problems.
- Non-emergency care supplied by taxpayer funds should occur at
community clinics where treatment is least expensive.
State supported medical services should implement this policy.
- Coloradans should have access to regional purchasing
pools to reduce the cost of purchasing drugs. A bill
to ensure this access was vetoed by the Governor.
